Section 1 Works

If you intend to construct a new wall, either as a Party Wall or a Party Fence Wall (situated on the boundary line)     requiring your neighbour's approval, or up to the line of junction entirely on your property, you must serve a Section 1 Notice. 

Additionally, if the proposed wall will have foundations that extend deeper than your neighbour’s, you will also need to issue a Section 6 Notice. It is important to provide a notice period of one month before commencing any construction work.
